Join our holiday workout and food drive at Elite Performance Monday Dec 18th 8-9pm!
Get an extra workout in over the holidays. To workout just bring $5 which will be donated to buying gifts for children in need as well as a donation to the food bank. I love this time of year for giving back to the community.
It can be hard for some people, they get depressed at Christmas and even angry because of the excessive commercialization of Christmas, with the focus on gifts and social activities. Many people feel very lonely at Christmas, because they have suffered the loss of loved ones or their jobs. Donating to the food bank is a great way that we can help our community at this time of year.
Join us at 325 Howe St, unit B102, Buzz #100 on Monday December 11th from 8-9pm. Please bring $5 towards a gift for a child in need and a donation to the food bank.
Here is a list on the most nutrient dense foods that you can donate to the food bank. It includes:
Grains
- Oatmeal (regular-no added sugar)
- Pot barley
- Whole grain high-fibre bran cereal
- Whole grain pasta or brown rice
Protein
- Canned salmon or tuna
- Peanut butter
- Canned or dry beans (chickpeas, lentils, kidney beans)
- Nuts (unsalted)
Fruits and Vegetable
- Canned fruits and vegetables (no added sugar or salt)
- Tomato sauce (sodium reduced)
We are also teaming up with Lisa Pozin of Giving Gifts, her store is on Main st and 30th. She will be bringing S’well bottles to sell. They make a great Christmas gift for yourself or a loved one that wants to enjoy a healthy 2018! 10% percent is donated to a non-profit organization that provides water and sanitation to the world’s most poorest communities. Five dollars of that will go towards buying gifts for children in need. Here is a link explaining more. Cash and credit card accepted for the S’well bottles.
